20 Ass-Beater Deathcore Songs
We live in a time where deathcore is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Thanks to bands like Lorna Shore, this genre is swallowed up in the limelight of Tik-Tok, and more young people are discovering this hidden metal genre vessel.
For those who are unaware, Deathcore originated in the mid-late 1990s by pioneer bands Despised Icon and Antagony. The term “deathcore” came from Terrorizer Magazine editor Nick Terry who stated, “We’re probably going to settle on the term ‘deathcore’ to describe the likes of Earth crisis.” And therefore, deathcore was born.
The genre itself is the offspring of death metal and metalcore with hints of a hardcore punk influence. Before Tik-Tok, bands like Suicide Silence and Bring Me the Horizon gained moderate popularity among the deathcore genre, both within Billboard’s top 200.
With all that said, I have put together a list of my top 20 ass-beater deathcore songs that’ll make you want to do a two-step wherever you are. Note: these songs are in no specific order.
1. “Unholy Gavebirth” - Infant Annihilator
An absolutely great way to start off this list. I love a song with a quiet intro that builds up to be something that makes me feel like punching all my haters in their faces. I also truly believe that Dickie Allen is a goblin a human costume. You can’t change my mind.

2. “Disengage” - Suicide Silence
It’s the breakdown for me. 100% brutal. R.I.P. Mitch Lucker.
3. “I’m So Tired of Sighing, Please Lord Let it Be Night” - Black Tongue
This song is heavier than a 20-ton pile of bricks weighing down a 17-ton dump truck. The vocals are insane as well. ALSO, I could only find a video for this song with Spanish subtitles.

4. “Of the Abyss” - Lorna Shore
There’s a reason why I (and so many others) are obsessed with Will Ramos- era Lorna Shore. The man is capable of ruling the entire metal scene with just his vocal ability. In my opinion, this is the best Lorna Shore song, and I believe it beats “To the Hellfire” by a long shot (no offense “To the Hellfire”… I still love you.)
5. “The Somatic Defilement” - Whitechapel
It would be extremely disrespectful if I didn’t put Whitechapel on this list. Like really disrespectful. So why not put my favorite Whitechapel song on here? The intro is a slap in the face and Phil Bozeman’s brutal vocals add icing to the cake.

6. “Entombment of a Machine” - Job For a Cowboy
Yet another deathcore pioneer I cannot leave out. “The Somatic Defilement” and “Entombment of a Machine” have very similar intros. Both songs define deathcore for what it is: brutal, angry, and heavy. “Entombment of a Machine” 100% deserves to be on any “top deathcore songs” list.

7. “Get Out” - Boundaries
I’ve recently found out about this song and I’m not disappointed. “Get Out” is filled with heavy drums, rifts, and vocals and deserves more listeners.
8. “Welcome Back, O’ Sleeping Dreamer” - Lorna Shore
If there’s anything I love about today’s deathcore, it’s Lorna Shore. Most specifically, “Welcome Back O’ Sleeping Dreamer” by Lorna Shore. What an insane build-up to an insane song. The Lorna boys are beyond talented. I believe none of them are from this earth.

9. “Guillotine Necktie” - Vulvodynia, Acrania
If I could just be spat on by Duncan Bentley I’d die happy. I mean just listen to this song and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

10. “Innocent Blood” - CABAL, Ingested, Jason Evans
CABAL, Ingested, and Jason Evans? How much heavier can it get? CABAL really pushes the limits with this song. Such a masterpiece for angry people.

11. “Cremated Existence” - Ingested
This one is pretty self-explanatory…

12. “Dead Rose” - Chelsea Grin
My favorite intro out of all these songs on this list.
13. “No Pity For a Coward” - Suicide Silence
When I’m mad, this is my go-to song.

14. “Crewcabanger” - Chelsea Grin
Similar to "Entombment of a Machine" and "Somatic Defilement" I give you... "Crewcabanger". One of Chelsea Grin's oldies but goldies.
15. “ManiaCult” - Aborted
It’s something about Aborted’s aesthetic that latches me on to this band. Especially to this song. I love the idea of horror and metal going hand-in-hand because they go so entirely well together.
16. “Depraved Paraphilia” - Vulvodynia, Adam Warren, Oceano
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve quoted, “You wanna’ know what happens to an eyeball when it gets punctured? Do you have any idea how much blood jets out of a guy’s neck when his throat’s been slit?” Jesus. Listen to that breakdown as well. Absolutely vile.
Listen to "Depraved Paraphilia" here
17. “Heritage (feat. Will Ramos of Lorna Shore)” - Distant, Will Ramos, Lorna Shore
One of the most recent collabs Will has done and it’s, yet again, a brutal one.
18. “DNR” - Left to Suffer, Will Ramos, Ricky Hoover
Taylor Barber’s (Left to Suffer vocalist) vocals, as well as Will’s vocals go so well together. The contrast makes a perfect duo.
19. “UNMASKED” - Darko US, Matt McDougal
Current Chelsea Grin vocalist Tom Barber and Spite drummer Josh Miller’s new band Darko US has been popping up on my social media algorithm lately, and I’m not complaining. Usually I’m not too fond of techno in metal music, but Darko US seems to fuse vile breakdowns and techno fairly well.
20. “GouZinZanGoku” - DEVILOOF
While scrolling through Tik-Tok, I came across these guys and holy. Shit. Definitely the most interesting deathcore band I’ve ever came across, and this song is a great one for hyping you up before that stellar workout.
